Saskia Laroo: “This Jazz Goddess is a real ambassador of cross-over and new jazz”.
Saskia Laroo, by some journalists called as Lady Miles Davis of Europe, is one of a few women in the world who is playing jazz music on trumpet.
Dutch trumpetress Saskia Laroo has taken on a mission as original and bold as it is resplendent: “…combining various music styles and cultures in a way as if they always meant to be together”. Saskia ‘s concept is borne of years playing, experimenting and grooving.

Electric Barbarian @ Kelder, Amersfoort May 16th
Electric Barbarian is the group that Floris Vermeulen created in the year 2000, and they perform a mix of drum’n bass and jazz improvisation.
The core of the band consists of trumpet, bass and drums.
Because of the harmonic instrument being replaced by the Belgium turntable wizard Grazzhoppa, the music sounds surprisingly fresh. Electric Barbarian combines drum’n bass and jungle with European improvised music.
The pace for this band was set at festival ‘Les Trois Jours’ where Electric Barbarian worked with Serge Adam and Tony Buck.
