Een nieuwe band met een “nieuw oud” geluid. Wijnen, Winter & Thor spelen broeierige Hammond Jazz in de beste traditie van dit genre. Maar daar blijft het niet bij want de funk, Latin moderne jazz en groove invloeden zijn niet van de lucht. Van intieme ballads en medium swings tot opzwepende funk, samba en “boogaloo”, Wijnen, Winter & Thor weten het publiek op plezierige en integere wijze helemaal voor zich te winnen.

Wilbert de Joode solo

Wilbert de Joode (1955) is a veritable research scientist of bass pizzicato and bowing techniques. A self-taught musician, he has been playing the double bass since 1982 and is currently one of the most active bass players on the improvised music circuit. His individual style and musicality transforms the double bass into an equal partner in the most varied ensembles. A personal tone color, exploration of the outer registers, idiosyncratic improvisations and the use of gut strings contribute to an instantly recognizable and intriguing sound.

Wim Dijkgraaf

Wim is vooral in het buitenland bekend als één van 's werelds beste jazz mondharmonica spelers. Zijn geheel eigen techniek en visie op improviseren maken hem een belevenis om naar te luisteren en een alom zéér gerespecteerd musicus.

Wim woont in Brazilie waar hij een groot deel van zijn tijd gebruikt voor het componeren van muziek; voor zijn eigen groep en vooral voor symphonieorkest.

Wolter Wierbos solo

Wolter Wierbos is considered one of the world’s leading trombone players. He has played throughout Europe, Canada, USA and Asia. Wierbos has many awards to his name, including the Podiumprijs for Jazz and Improvised music and the most important Dutch jazz award, the VPRO Boy Edgar Prize.
Like many Dutch brass players Wierbos started out in a ‘fanfare’ (brass band), switching from trumpet to trombone when he was 17. “It looked good, and the trombones walk in front....” His interests range from precise chamber jazz to throbbing post punk and contemporary composed and improvised music. Wouter Hamel

As a teenager Wouter discovered singing by working on school-musicals in Secondary School. At that time, he played guitar and joined several rockbands. Later on he switched to singer-song. Only years later, at the Conservatory of Utrecht, he got in touch with jazz and swing.

There was private tuition from artists such as Mark Murphy, Lydia Van Dam and Denise Jannah. Jon Hendricks was his muse. Wouter spent many hours studying vocalise, a singing-technique Hendricks developed.
