Messing around with Beats and Sounds : A steaming Jam of Afro-Cuban vocalising, beats, jazzy sounds & dance grooves.

Afro Lounge is initiated by Dj Cycle, vocalist Ariel Romero and flautist Mark Alban Lotz. Dj Cycle and Lotz have a history of performing and recording their interpretations of Afro Cuban religious folklore music. Their fascination for this music is quick-alive still. Ariel Romero lives this music: as first soloist of the Conjunto Folklorico de Oriente (Santiago de Cuba) and practicing Afro Cuban Santero. Now they are heading for new directions: Together with Iranian percussion player Afra Mussawisade and Cuban vocalist Mirta Junco they place the old Yoruba melodies from West Africa into a new context: jazzy lounge & house music. Next to the music of the Yoruba and Cuban folkore elements of Brazilian music and the musica popular, influences of Indian music can be found in their new and vital Afro-mix. show native description
