Buddy and Soul

Buddy and Soul is a duo made of Tim Kliphuis and Herman van der Leest
(former members of the group Sequenza) who are playing music from the
thirties in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, but also
influence from later jazz is to be heard by these two fine musicians.

Herman van der Leest
(guitar)
is an accomplished rhythm guitar player in the old Hot Club swing style, but also incorporates modern repertoire in his playing. He was founder of the gypsy jazz group 'Sequenza' from The Hague, who played North Sea Jazz in 1999. Other festivals include Breda Jazz and Wilhelmshafen (Germany).

Tim Kliphuis
(violin)
is classically trained and plays with gypsy guitar virtuoso Fapy Lafertin. He tours in Holland, United Kingdom, France and Germany and has by now made 3 CDs to international acclaim. As a classical soloist he has played in Bosnia, South-Africa and Syria. show native description
