Estrella y Esquina 25

With this group, Estrella Acosta blends Cuban and jazz idioms: "In jazz, standard songs are often dressed up in Latin fashion. We do the opposite: approach Cuban and Latin traditionals in a jazzy and improvisational way..."
This is the quintet that Estrella is presenting currently, next to her eight-piece band Estrella’s Guajira, which was featured at the North Sea Festival 2005 and will be touring the USA and Canada in September 2007.
Estrella's quintet was chosen to participate in the JazzImpuls concert series and during the 2004-2005 season played 25 theater concerts in major venues all over the Netherlands, which were very well received.
The press about recent gigs:

“She is an excellent performer who knows how to create the sunny and boisterous atmosphere that belongs to Cuban music... Bischoff is a unique soloist... Acosta is an energetic presence, who passionately attends to the Cuban heritage.” De Stentor

“Cuban-born Acosta sang with a fine voice, with lots of warmth in the lower range. Impressive accompaniment by Marc Bischoff, who effortlessly waves various genres into the pulsating piano lines characteristic of Cuban music.” Eindhovens Dagblad show native description
