Gèzz

In January 2002 a new group appeared on stage in Paradox Tilburg, The Netherlands. Three outstanding Dutch musicians played a new kind of jazz modifying old and new poptunes into an almost surreal musical landscape.

Their music was open, free, lyrical, harmonically delicate and rhythmically exquisite with great use of dynamics. The audience was drawn in a game of recognizing what it heard but not knowing what it was.

In the following months time and again people came up to those three musicians: pianist Harmen Fraanje, Bassist Eric van der Westen and Drummer Hans van Oosterhout to tell them they witnessed the concert of the year!

The group had been working steadily to create a significant vocabulary. Using tunes from their early musical background was a link which came natural to all involved. Repertoire derived from different styles of pop music inspired them to recompose the material to fit the group's improvisational needs.

Each member of the group has made a reputation in the international music scene and in this combination the very best of their playing surfaces…

On November 4 and 5 2002 the trio recorded their first album for Challenge Records; a super audio release meaning it was a surround recording (quadraphonic) on the latest and most innovative equipment suplied by SONY
