Ghiwane Jazz

A tribute to Nass el Ghiwane
Nass el Ghiwane is a well known Maroccan music group that was most popular in the seventies of the previous century. The group brought poetic, engaged lyrics, telling about the feelings of many Maroccans and the oppression of the political regime. The musicians developed an own style, with a specific harmonic singing and use of instruments. Nass el Ghiwane is still very popular amongst many people from Marocco, living in different countries.

Ghiwane JAZZ
Also the music group Rimah from Rotterdam, with the brothers Azzaoui, are still inspired from the music of Nass el Ghiwane.
They got in touch with the jazzmusician Anton Drukker and guitarist Mimoun Himmit. While they were talking and playing, the idea was born to create a musical meeting with jazz, pop and music of Nass el Ghiwane.
This combination turned out to be a new unique sound. With this group of eight musicians, Ghiwane Jazz brings surprising rhythms and arrangements with the origional lyrics of Nass el Ghiwane.
