Mark Lotz & Shango's Dance

Tour In Russia in 17-27 sept 2008.

"Combining smart and funky contempo jazz with Afro-Cuban ritual music is always a good idea but it doesn't always work. No one is better at it then Mark Lotz! It's a mix he's gotten good at, like the person designated to make the fresh squeeze lemonade because they make it best."
(Latin Jazz Program @ www.jazzbuffalo.com)

With Shango's Dance flautist/composer Mark Lotz is concentrates on the ancient songs and dances the Cubans use to adoley their West African ancestors. Music that has nothing to do with 'Latin' but evokes images of dry savanas and leaf cottages.

The joined efforts of Cubans folkloric musicians and Jazz musicians gives birth to an adventurous music with a subtle, fresh and impressing Euro-African sound. A new vibe for the next millenium: "Voodoo Jazz".

Line up minimum 8 musicians up to 14 musicians and dansers

The press:
"Invigorating and fascinating." (Cadence)
"This is not just an exotic flirt but a real organic fusion." (De Volkskrant)
".... striking outing from the Netherlands. ...veering between the campfires of enslaved Cuban worshippers and the smoke-filled clubs of New York." (fly.co.uk) show native description
