The venezuelan trumpeter, composer and arranger Michael Simon has been active in the jazz and latin music scene in Holland since 1993. Throughout this period he had the opportunity to develop professionally, sharring the stages of the most important concert halls and festivals in Europe and abroad with the formations of Gerardo Rosales, Fra Fra Sound, Fra Fra Big Band, Javier Plaza y su Orquesta Sonrisa and Conexion Latina among others; as well as with renown artists such as Larry Harlow, Alberto Naranjo, Bobby Watson, Lester Bowie, Edward and Marlon Simon, Toumani Diabaté and David Murray.
For his project, the repertoire is formed by original compositions, incorporating venezuelan and afrocaribbean rhythms to contemporary jazz, being performed by the most relevant musicians in the jazz and latin scene in The Netherlands.
Nowadays, he recently recieved his bachelour degree for composition and arranging at the Rotterdams Conservatory (where he obtained his bachelour for trumpet as well) and is active as a steady member of the bands and projects of Gerado Rosales, Conexion Latina and Fra Fra Sound, with which he had the chance to play in West, East and South-Africa, USA, Jamaica, Europe, Rumania, Guatemala and Turkey.
