STORMVOGEL (musician, writer, artist) began as a novellist at the age of 19. His first works were published by Rothschild & Bach (Amsterdam) en received good reviews in national papers and magazines. In the nineties Stormvogel created several mysterieplays, combining music, ballet, art, poetry, acting and swordfighting, based on Dutch folklore, legends and history. Since 1998 he performs with his Alter Ego JazzBarock Consort in jazzclubs and on festivals, "Drakenburger Concerto's", a eclectic mix of rock, jazz, classical, world, celtic and medieval music. Stormvogel is very much influenced by influenced by Magma and Christian Vander. Besides Magma he loves Zappa, Mahavishnu, RTF, Garbarek, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Jimi Hendrix and Aka Moon, Hildegard von Bingen, Steve Reich, Strawinsky, J.S. Bach, Richard Wagner, Balkan music, Qawali (Pakistan Sufi), dutch folklore, Scandinavian chant. Stormvogel relies on some the best players in the field of Dutch jazz and jazzrock, like Tineke Postma, Chander Sardjoe, Wiro Mahieu, Wieke Aurora Garcia, Rob van den Broeck, Onno Witte, Jeroen Pek and David de Marez Oyens. Related projects are PitchWhiteStorm and Bohemian Groove Orchestra.
